Inside-Ear Pimples: Safe Treatment at Home
Have there been times when you experience pain and burning sensation at either side of your forehead while laughing, eating food, and listening to music via earphones? Touch your finger on that you get hurt then discover there’s nothing but a tiny bruise below where they touched you.
You do have an inner ear pimple.
Pimples can be extremely uncomfortable for you if they occur anywhere else apart from ears. Because of this tightness to our ear’s bones within its membranous covering called the eardrum, minor amounts may result from inflammation causing great discomfort.
You might like to poke, squeeze, or scratch your ear with a bobby pin, but this is going to cause serious ear infection.
In this blog, we will explain how an ear canal acne outbreak happens, what triggers this condition and how you can cure it naturally from home without damaging your hearing.
What Are the Causes of a Pimple in Ear?
The ear isn’t an ideal spot for taking off your skin since there are many sebaceous (oil) glands and sweat glands there. Like a hole on one side of your head and another on each ear, they are also easily blocked due to various reasons like:
- Excess Earwax & Sweat
- Trapped Dead Skin Cells
- Bacterial Growth
- Painful Inner Pimple in Ear
1. Sebum and Earwax Overproduction
Earwax (cerumen) comes from inside of our body naturally.
If you have some earwax because it helps to collect dust, dirt and bacteria which are not allowed by nature while they enter through your ear canal.
But if there is a lot of excess wax buildup and sweat/oil on your skin that clumps together to form something known as a plug. Plugs are stuck with dead skin cell debris inside an area of your ear canal that allows them to reproduce causing blemishes called acne vulgaris.
2. External Object Contamination with Everyday Objects
We constantly introduce foreign bacteria through our ears without realizing that. Most frequently culprits are.
The earbuds are inserted deeply within your ears to absorb oil, sweat and bacteria that come out from other parts of the body. Don’t clean them too much then that’s going to push it back again through your ears.
The dirty pillowcase absorbs oils from your face and hair products. Sleeping on a dirty pillowcase for several nights rubs those trapped bacteria directly into your ears.
Heavy hair oil products, thick conditioner and chemical hairspray tend to get stuck behind the ear during shower and styling which blocks up your pores immediately.
3. Micro-Tears from Objects
Try to remove your earwax if it is infected by pressing on it with cotton swabs, keys and pins. Things hard to hear pass through a person’s eardrum’s delicate tissue.
Tiny cuts allow bacteria to reach below the surface where they cause inflammation that results from scratching as it causes pain like a deep-seated blind pimple.
Ear Pimple vs Medical Infection
It's Important to know what the issue is Before you start applying home remedies it's important to get a good idea of exactly what's happening in your ear. Due to their size and shape, it is very easy to mistake an ingrown hair for a much more serious form of an ear condition.

How to Apply It to Your Ear Canal Safely?
- Sanitize your fingers well enough to avoid introducing more bacteria on them through washing with detergent and cleanliness.
- Take out an empty cotton swab. Use a small amount (about as big as a pea) of spot gel from your fingers and apply it to the tip of an unopened flower bud.
- Carefully look at yourself with a mirror; next put a cotton swab inside your ears, then apply gel directly onto those bumps.
- Never force it too far, don't insert a cotton swab past your eardrum and beyond where there is no visibility of this object inside ears. Limit it only to the visible part of your ear canal.
- Dry this up, let your transparent gel set properly then use it without disturbing anything else around you.
Steps to Manage an Ear Pimple at Home
Patience and care are required for ear canal acne treatment. Follow these five rules of fast relief that don’t hurt you.
1. Apply a Warm Compress
Damp a clean towel and make it soak for a few minutes, then squeeze the remaining water from it.
Make sure to not make use of the dry parts of the towel for rubbing on too.
Leave that towel on and press it gently against the top of your head for about 10-15 minutes.
A hot compress will promote better blood circulation in your skin, and will also enable you to treat the layers of the acne more effectively for quicker results.
2. Don’t Pop, Squeeze and Scratch
A popping of an acne on your head would be deadly.
Short and small ears have smaller openings so when you squeeze through those spaces, it’s going to be harder for bad microbes to get out than if they were able pass through wider openings like ours do naturally.
This could result from a severe skin infection called cellulitis.
3. Do not drown yourself with sound
Moist warm environments are favoured for bacterial growth.
Don’t fill up with lots of water while bathing and showering.
Put a clean piece of cotton pad that’s been dipped by way of some petroleum jelly onto either side while washing up hair.
4. Switch to Over-Ear Headphones
Give yourself a break from listening to music with earphones for a day or two.
Wireless headphones have been stuck right here so they cause greater swelling; then they rub microbes onto their skin.
Wear an over-ear headphone for some time after you’ve healed completely.
5. Clean Your Eyeglasses Frames
Clean glasses frame with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol every day if you have a pimple on your glasses arm.
The frame collects oil and perspiration throughout its lifetime which leads to getting acne quickly.
Ear Care Mistakes You Must Avoid
You should take care of your hearing problems, not commit errors like other people do, and maintain good health every single day. Don’t fall prey to these antiquated mistakes.
-
Rubbing Alcohol Drops--Inside the ear, pouring raw rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide directly into your ear canal dries out the skin barrier completely, causing severe flaking, pain, and a rebound surge of oil.
-
Metal Ear Picks--Metal picks are used to scrape off earwax from the delicate skin lining that gives easy access to harmful bacteria.
-
Failing to cleanse your ears post-swim by allowing contaminated pools’ fluids to remain within them causes skin softening that allows bacterial growth resulting from numerous acne problems.

How to Keep Your Ears Pimple-Free?
Once you remove this sore spot from your body do not let it reappear. Some simple routines done weekly would be beneficial for maintaining hygiene within ears.
- Clean your technology every week by sanitizing your headphones, smartphone screen and earbuds daily with a sanitizer pad (or wipes).
- Sweat is likely to be trapped within your ear while doing strenuous physical activity. Take a piece of dry, clean towel from any corner, take it out and gently massage it on your ears post workout.
- Don’t put hair products on your ears when you spray them onto your head, then apply pomades and leave-in creams.
When to See an ENT Specialist Immediately?
Do not give yourself any more treatment at home; consult a doctor immediately for your throat problems as soon as possible.
- The pain is constant and deep throbbing to your jaw, cheek and neck.
- Yellow, green and foul smelling fluids are leaking from ears continuously.
- You have suddenly lost your ability to hear sounds; there is also tinnitus (ringing) from one side of your head only.
- Swelling and redness of the skin over/under your ear (or even just touching it) is a sign that something may have gone wrong with your eardrum.
- Fever and chilliness you have an illness that causes high temperatures along with weakness symptoms which indicate its spread within your system.
- Vertigo/Dizziness – sudden dizziness, spinning sensation while standing up and feeling sick to your stomach.
- Jaw pain or difficulty to move jaws properly due to severe discomfort which makes it impossible for me (and others) while eating anything at all times.
- Lymph node swelling with painful lumps on either side of your face near your ears and collarbone area.
Final Thoughts
Pimple in ear are very irritating to deal with however they’re located near your sensitive earlobe so please take care not to put too much pressure on them while cleaning them up properly. Firstly it's very important not to attempt popping that bump yourself.
Keep it tidy, dry and relaxed. Use an ice pack to remove blockages from your ear canal; apply alitess anti-acne spot treatment (gel) for relief of throbbing pains and restoring ear comfort right here at home without going out of town. Allow some time for healing of your body. You should maintain hygiene while listening with ease without discomfort.
